Crossing Churchill Way (2) - 21 June 2018

23 Jun 2018 95
The architecture of much of Basingstoke can only be described as stark. Nowhere is this more evident than when viewing The Malls shopping centre from Churchill Way East and Church Street. The footbridge across Churchill Way is grimly utilitarian and the exterior of The Malls could be a prison or latter day fortress. TZ30_P1050121R

Havant Railway Footbridge (3) - 30 January 2015

30 Jan 2015 204
A general impression of the condition of the footbridge over the railway at Havant station was given in my photograph of 5 May 2013 and the accompanying text. Things can move slowly in this country and in today's pictures the poor condition of the bridge nearly two years later is clear to see. 200_2_P1020751

Havant Railway Footbridge (1) - 5 May 2013

In a Leica image not included in my Market Parade series, I photographed the nearby railway footbridge which, itself, is in need of some attention as evidenced by the scaffolding beneath. The present day structure is much more elaborate than that of the 60s and 70s but now requires strengthening or replacement. Wallington Footbridge - 26 December 2013

26 Dec 2013 180
Many of the days in December have been, to say the least, difficult for the photographer so a bright Boxing Day was very welcome. I like holidays for uncluttered photographs and, here, the early morning light was the kind which makes you gasp slightly in the moment you know you have to take a picture. Bridges are amongst my favourite structures and I have been considering this from different angles for many months. This pedestrian route crosses Wallington Way in Fareham from Wallington Hill (Wickham Road). 200_P1000110
