On the second morning of my vacation, I was in a not particularly great area of West Palm Beach and photographing some things I really wanted to capture as part of my travels in America. I am happy enough with all the documentary stuff with which my followers are familiar - all the stuff that goes in groups - but there is more in my mind. The slices of life, the slices of the lives of others. This is a picture which tells you something of the moment and nothing of the moments before. The guy had been tending his suitcase which, I think, contained his worldly possessions and then set off along the Dixie Highway with a purposeful stride. We see the tiniest fraction of his life but nothing of what has gone before or is yet to come. 200_2_P1080506RM
