Southampton's Royal Pier (1833) was served by trains from 1871 to 1921 with the exception of the years of WW1. Closed in 1980, parts of the pier were damaged by fire in 1987. The gate-house building on the shore adjacent to the pier has been restored and is now a Thai restaurant - Kuti's Royal Thai Pier. The dome of that building contains several panels, of which this is one, outlining the history of the pier. 200_2_P1080411E
