As landscaping continued in the car park to the right, Fareham Innovation Centre at Daedalus, with Phase 2 construction complete, stood ready for occupation in April 2018. The ceremonial handover of keys from the contractor, Morgan Sindall, to Fareham Borough Council took place on 5 March 2018. 200_3_P1050049CE

Another Sunday morning portrait of Fareham Innovation Centre in some welcome late winter sunshine shows the campus a few weeks before the opening of Phase 2 (furthest from the camera). As shown in my other photograph from today, landscaping and car park construction were still under way but the screening had all been removed. 200_3_P1040392E

As the opening date of Phase 2 of Fareham Innovation Centre approaches, a clearer view of the expanded campus is now available. Landscaping and car park construction are in progress. 200_3_P1040386CE

As the Christmas holiday approached and on a cold, clear morning, the Fareham Innovation Centre could be seen to be nearly complete after the construction of Phase 2 (nearer the camera). Protective mesh and hoardings were still in place but looked as though they would be cleared soon. 200_3_P1040071CE

Early Sunday morning proved to be an ideal time for my latest photograph of the Fareham Innovation Centre. Furthest from the camera and featured in several of my earlier pictures, Phase 2 of construction is nearing completion. 200_3_P1030598R

As Phase 2 of Fareham Innovation Centre nears completion, comparisons can be made with my photograph of 25 October 2017. The trench which had occupied part of the roadway has been filled in and two-way traffic restored. At roof level, much of the orange guard rail has been removed and, presumably, will be replaced by the grey, permanent structures seen on the original building (and just visible in this picture). 200_3_P1030601CE

As the weekend of the clock change loomed, the opportunities for well lit photography were already diminishing. The early evening light makes my latest picture of progress with Phase 2 of the Fareham Innovation Centre slightly charming. Work on the new building appears to be approaching completion. The trench along the length of the original building, delineated by the barriers and cones and causing single-lane traffic, has been open for some time but is now being filled. 200_3_P1030591CE

At this time of year, the weather or lighting make the timing of update photographs difficult. Construction of Phase 2 of the Fareham Innovation Centre continues and this airside view shows that the taxiway width has been reduced by the extension of the blue perimeter fencing from the area of the original building. This can be compared with my photograph of 4 September 2017 from a different angle. The fence line is well inside the temporary, protective sheeting and concreting of the fencepost bases has to be completed. 200_3_P1030587CE

Phase 2 of the Fareham Innovation Centre appears to be nearing completion externally at least. In this photograph, progress with cladding and glazing can clearly be seen when compared to the previous picture from a similar viewpoint. 200_3_P1030358

The sun can be a little tricky at this time of the year so I moved from evening to morning shooting for this updated shot of progress with Phase 2 of the Fareham Innovation Centre at Daedalus. The new building is now a few steps closer to being integrated with the original. 200_3_P1020943R

Although I have made no commitment to how much I can record the development of Phase 2 of Fareham Innovation Centre at Daedalus, I am trying to post as many varied shots as possible. I think construction projects are important subjects because, once complete, the intermediate stages fade from the memory. Some of us will live to see today's buildings replaced and documentary pictures will become valuable. Progress at this Lee on Solent site is steady and today's shot from airside shows how the Phase 2 building is deeper from back to front than the first building in addition to being a storey higher. 200_3_P1020933CE

The position of the evening sun at this time of year brings new challenges to photographing progress with Phase 2 of the Fareham Innovation Centre so it was time for some, well, innovation. The reverse angle selected from the south side of Solent Airport interestingly includes part of the now redundant markings which formerly protected runway 17/35. 200_3_P1020915

Progress with Phase 2 of the Fareham Innovation Centre since 19 July is evident in this new evening shot of the site. The building has extended to the rear, enclosing the lift shaft and external panelling is in place. Work has been going on well beyond 6pm and daytime deliveries of materials have caused only minimal disruption outside a well-run site. 200_3_P1020215CE

The evening light enhances this view of the early stages of construction of the extension to Fareham Innovation Centre in Meteor Way, Lee on Solent. I shall not have the opportunities to document this project as meticulously as I did the construction of the original building (background) which was completed and opened in 2015 but I shall post views of progress from time to time. 200_3_P1020072CE

The Fareham Innovation Centre at Daedalus is now an established part of the landscape of Lee on Solent. I have waited a while for this shot of the simple but pleasing building in late afternoon light and a December Sunday provided the ideal opportunity. 200_2_P1080274
