On what was scheduled to be the last day of closure of the viewing area, where distancing measures were already in place, a small number of visitors to Solent Airport were still best viewed from near holding point A1. Piper PA-28-236 Dakota G-ZSDB was taxying for departure from runway 23.

Well, I have taken a bit of a liberty with the title which, in any case, will mean nothing to some of my viewers but amuses me. It was, of course, not exactly dawn but it was early in the morning at Solent Airport and there was a little bit of shunting going on around Bournemouth Avionics leaving on the tarmac two aircraft I have not photographed before. In a less than classic photograph, I have manged to obscure both registrations. The truth is, I moved for my last shot but found, on editing, that I had inadvertently cropped the original image.
Piper PA-28-201T Turbo Dakota G-BOKA stands with PA-32-300 Cherokee Six G-GSIX. The background is interesting in its own right. The Trislander G-RLON is still on the west side of the airport and deserves its hoped for spot at Solent Sky Museum. It will almost certainly survive but the chimney of Fawley Power Station, seen above IX, will not and is due for demolition later this year thus appearing in no more photographs.

Hemet-Ryan Ramp (2) - 12 November 2015

As this series draws to a close, I have chosen a second ramp shot. I have intentionally limited the number of shots I have taken of US general aviation because the number of aircraft at even minor fields is overwhelming. In a country where an aircraft is a mode of transport and popular leisure tool, there would be no time to photograph anything else. This, then, is just a tiny sample of the joy of a couple of hours at Hemet-Ryan.
(From l-r), Cessna 210L N732KM, Thatcher CX-4A N252EX, Cessna 172N N5211D and Piper PA-28-235 Cherokee N8688W.
