Janusz Korczak (born Henryk Goldszmidt) was a doctor , author and teacher who promoted the care of children and tried to protect Jewish and Polish orphans but died with them in Treblinka in 1942. This monument to his life by Zbigniew Wilma (architect) and Bohdan Chmielewski (sculptor) is in the Park Świętokrzyski, Warsaw.
