The Veronica Sunbay (originally Sun Bay) was erected in 1934 on Napier's Marine Parade to commemorate the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. The memorial is named in honour of HMS Veronica and the outstanding service given by her officers and crew at the time of the disaster. 200_2_P1030764C
