Asian Neighbours, Toronto - 8 May 2019

09 May 2019 158
Japango Japanese Restaurant at 122 Elizabeth Street, Toronto and Chinese Restaurant neighbour Yueh Tung at 126 Elizabeth Street. The Japanese restaurant is in a Japanese district of Toronto but the Chinese establishment is some way from the stronghold of restaurants and other businesses further west on Dundas Street West and on Spadina Avenue. 200_3_P1100752R

Lucky Star, Road Town - 11 March 2019

Lucky Star Chinese Restaurant, 87 Main Street, Road Town, Tortola Two types of lantern. Chinese restaurants in Road Town are a little difficult to find partly because listed addresses are rather vague and, on the ground, street signs are sparse or non-existent and the restaurant signs somewhat low-key as shown here. I found it hard to believe I was at the entrance to the restaurant and was not 100% certain that it is still open although its Facebook page would suggest that it is. 200_3_P1100040

Fore Street, Looe - 10 February 2017

14 Feb 2017 195
This is the kind of shot of which I want to post more but there is only so much time in (photographic) life. Unremarkable now, imagine viewing this in one hundred years now much as you might today look at a photograph from the momentous year of 1917 as the whole of Europe metamorphosed from its 19th century state. In Fore Street, Looe, the New Peking Garden Chinese Restaurant occupies a not uncommon first floor location with the ground floor shared between its entrance and Madhouse Girl, a fashion store. The Looe Co-op is notable for the fact that it has received its rebranding - which I really like - and that only a short distance to the north is the East Looe Co-op. I would be interested to know how there came to be two branches in such proximity. 200_2_P1140923

Feng Shang Princess - 16 October 2015

17 Oct 2015 151
Feng Shang Princess Floating Chinese Restaurant, Southern Star Cumberland Basin, Prince Albert Road, London NW1. (Access from Prince Albert Road). The restaurant is the dominant feature of a small part of the Regent's Canal with a fascinating history. The Cumberland Arm (or Cumberland Market Branch) was a 1-kilometre (0.6 mi) long stretch of canal that connected Cumberland Basin to the Regent's Canal ( which passes through the present site of the car park of London Zoo). The Cumberland Turn junction with the Regent's Canal is still visible with the short stub-end of the arm remaining housing the restaurant. Jazz Mural - 15 November 2013

The New Sun Hong Kong Chinese restaurant on Broadway, San Francisco looked particularly striking in the early morning sun and with its building enhanced by a Bill Weber jazz mural. P1190097
