As the sun rose over Portsmouth on Sunday 5 October, a vertical column of smoke rose over the island undisturbed at that hour by any wind. The source was a large fire at EMR Portsmouth, a recycling site on Dundas Spur. Hampshire Fire & Rescue soon had a large presence at the incident. The fire continued beyond the mid-morning. 200_2_P1000811
