ZA296 - A Final Role (1) - 25 July 2021

28 Jul 2021 50
Former Royal Navy Westland Sea King HC.4 ZA296 arrived at Fareham College - CEMAST in July 2021. CEMAST is, as it happens, on a site which was once part of RNAS Lee on Solent (HMS Daedalus) and is adjacent to the smaller Solent Airport of today. I understand that this airframe is one of several sold in about 2017 to the Pakistan Navy. Whilst the others travelled to Pakistan, ZA296 was stripped of spares and remained in the UK. It was donated to CEMAST to, reportedly, allow engineering students to practice patching. 200_4_P1020314

First 32707, Final Home - 14 January 2018

14 Jan 2018 155
First East Lancs Lolyne bodied Dennis Trident 32707/W707PHT has been withdrawn from service and appears to have been donated to CEMAST at Fareham which, as the colour scheme reminds us, it used to serve on a shuttle service. 32708 is still seen on such services together with vehicles in standard First colours. 200_3_P1040146E

First 32707 leaving CEMAST - 21 March 2016

First Hampshire & Dorset East Lancs Lolyne bodied Dennis Trident 32707/W707PHT, in Fareham College scheme, leaving CEMAST. CEMAST is part of Fareham College. Two special liveried buses (the other is 32708) serve CEMAST although other vehicles are also seen on its services. Unfortunately, my attempt at a drive-by shot like the one of 32708 (previous picture) was spoiled by a passing car. 200_2_P1090286

The New Lee Landscape - 25 December 2014

25 Dec 2014 1 223
As 2014 drew to a close and the sun shone on Christmas Day, I took the opportunity to add to my record of the most significant changes in Lee on Solent. Both buildings in this picture will be familiar to my followers. CEMAST, on the right, opened in September 2014 and, at around the same time, construction of the Daedalus Innovation Centre (left) began. That building is substantially complete and is due to open in Spring 2015. Together they make attractive and striking additions to the Lee on Solent landscape. 200_2_P1020117C

CEMAST - Up and Running - 19 September 2014

02 Oct 2014 144
Students arrived at CEMAST on 2 September 2014 and the barrier fencing was finally removed on 18 & 19 September although the bases remained in place on the 20th. In this shot, finally possible after months of patient documentary work, the students have gone home and taken their bicycles with them and the new college has become part of the Lee life and landscape. 200_2_P1000047C
