This is called unofficially 'The Great Hole of Leicester' but, curiously, I have not found what, if anything it is called officially. Situated on the west side of West Bridge and next to the River Soar, its provenance is explained well here . I have used it to frame one of the riverside developments (Roman Wall, Westbridge Wharf) which are gradually replacing the desolation of parts of Leicester but, to mind, cause a sort of desolation of their own. 200_P1040552
