The Jewry Wall (4) - 13 July 2014

One of the first sights which greeted me on my arrival In Leicester in evening sunshine, was the city's oldest building, The Jewry Wall, once part of the Roman baths. In this view along St Nicholas Walk, a wall of St Nicholas Church can be seen to the left. In a city, with what might kindly be described as 'mixed architecture', this is an absolute delight. 200_P1040530

Sunshine on the Millennia - 13 July 2014

As the evening sunshine falls upon Leicester, so it illuminates the passage of two millennia. The Jewry Wall (left) is the oldest building in the city and was part of the Roman baths. Across the remains of the baths is the predictable 20th century architecture of the Holiday Inn. The chances of that being there in 2000 years are zero. 200_P1040534

St Nicholas Church can be seen behind. In a city, with what might kindly be described as 'mixed architecture', this is an absolute delight. 200_P1040520
