Barncroft Way Today - 24 June 2014

25 Jun 2014 140
Barncroft Way is an important road linking Havant with parts of Leigh Park and my present with my past. In this 2014 view, I can reflect upon the changes of several decades. The houses on the left now have varied exteriors as a result of the change of ownership of most of them from council to private. Parked cars predominate in a way probably not foreseen in the 1960s and several laybys have been built to accommodate them. The bus stop in the foreground advertises Stagecoach routes 23 and 37 and route 27, operated by Emsworth & District. Buses on this road in the 1960s would have been operated by Portsmouth Corporation/City of Portsmouth and far less frequent. 200_P1040153

A Crossroads in My Life - 24 June 2014

Barncroft Way in Havant is my Memory Lane, a constant throughout my life. I have travelled it on foot by car countless thousands of times. This view north looks into Leigh Park at its junction with Stockheath Lane (left and right). Rows of (mostly former) council houses to the north and private properties to the south are separated by the Hermitage Stream and its green surroundings. 200_P1040135C
