Although the view is marred by the Denny's sign (the restaurant is in the adjacent Condado Plaza Hilton) this picture captures nicely the Miami Beach influence in the architecture of this apartment block in the Condado district of San Juan, Puerto Rico. 200_P1010297

Puerto Rico Does It Better - 7 March 2014

10 Mar 2014 187
Puerto Rico Does It Better (Puerto Rico Lo Hace Mejor) is one of the mottoes of the island and can be found on many registration plates. One could debate if that is aspirational rather than reality. Puerto Rico is a beautiful island but San Juan has many disused or uncompleted buildings. Many of these are along Ashford Avenue (Avenida Ashford) but there is evidence of a revival. The former Royal Pearl apartments need some work. 200_P1010294

09 Mar 2014 178
A reflective shot in the Condado district of San Juan, Puerto Rico. A badly oxidised sculpture stands next to a tree. Which is the more beautiful, which has the greater permanence? Shall the works of man be compared to those of nature? 200_P1010238

Next to the disused Regency Hotel in the Condado district of San Juan, stands a bi-level parking lot (Estacionamiento Regency/Parking) divided by the remains of a wall atop which can be seen this vaguely inexplicable structure which even has an abandoned chain in place. 200_P1010240
