Allure of the Seas at Southampton - 13 July 2020

RCCL Allure of the Seas at Southampton with the bunker vessel Whitchampion alongside. So large is the ship that she officially occupied berths 101 and 102. I have previously photographed her only in Port Everglades in 2014 and 2018. I have chosen this composition to include some of the gritty bits of City Terminal. 5300_DSC_2019E

Allure of the Seas leaving Port Everglades - 11 Ma…

Sunday 11 March 2018 saw no fewer than seven cruise ships at Port Everglades. My previous efforts with port photography had left me rather subject weary and the lighting conditions - into sun for much of the day - discouraged me from attempting a group shot or any photography from the 17th Street bridge. Instead, I waited patiently for the evening's departures. The homeported RCCL Allure of the Seas left berth 18, the sixth ship to head to sea this day, for Labadee. 200_3_P1050029CE

A Portrait of Port Everglades (9) - 4 March 2018

06 Mar 2018 126
This picture is part of a new series depicting Port Everglades, the busy port of Fort Lauderdale. As is usual with ports these days, access is not easy and viewpoints are limited. My pictures, then, are by no means all portraits, as I would prefer, but a record of the port at work. On the first weekend of March 2018, the Sunday was slightly quieter than the previous day but this view still features four ships. They are (l-r) Holland America Eurodam, Costa Deliziosa, the homeported Allure of the Seas and Regal Princess. Berthing and sailing information is as follows: Eurodam, berth 21, arrived from Key West, departing to Puerto Plata Costa Deliziosa, berth 19, arrived from Cozumel, departing to Nassau Allure of the Seas, berth 18, arrived from Cozumel, departing to Nassau Regal Princess, berth 02, arrived from Cozumel, departing to Princess Cays 200_3_P1040668CE

Allure of the Seas at Port Everglades - 26 January…

For a member of the public, one of the few ways to get into a port is to be legitimately on a ship. That is part of what makes preparation for a cruise exciting. There is so much to see from the deck of ones ship although some creativity is needed with shots taken in a crowded environment. Wonderful though the previous days viewing had been, it was equally wonderful to be amongst this day's six ships including our own Holland America Eurodam. The berth occupied on Saturday by Oasis of the Seas was filled on Sunday by sister Oasis Class vessel Allure of the Seas as she prepared for departure to Labadee (Haiti). 200_P1000570C
