Spirit House Chairs (4) - 22 October 2014

The stainless steel seats in the entrance and shop area of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal [qv] at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto are very striking if not obviously inviting to sit on. The Spirit House Chair is the result of a collaboration between the architect of The Crystal, Daniel Libeskind (and inspired by the design of his building) and Toronto furniture company Klaus Nienkämper. 200_2_P1010081

The Crystal Amazes (8) - 22 October 2014

The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal (Daniel Libeskind, 2007) is the Bloor Street face of the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. It has been both admired and detested. I was, at first, if not repelled, then not attracted and I do not much care for the execution of the interior which is, perhaps, as much the responsibility of the Museum as the architect. However, as I left on a bright day, I was gripped by the power of the exterior. My series offers you the chance to judge for yourself or simply to enjoy some images of geometric shapes. 200_2_P1010091C
