i-Pad Generation - 6 March 2014

This is a protest or an observation as you wish. It's impact might be muted by my limited technical skills (ironic, huh?), but I worked on several versions of this image, inspired by a shop window display in San Juan. Whilst I accept that good photographs can be taken on a tablet, I can only wince when I see someone brandishing one awkwardly to to take a picture. More than that, I am astonished and dismayed that countless people across generations and across cultures seem to feel the need to be interacting non-stop with some sort of device. Is it really necessary to be permanently connected to social media and/or e-mail, mainly for the exchange or even unsolicited broadcast of banalities? This image, if it needs to be explained, says how our heads are being taken over by technology while the person(ality) is fading away.
