The United B747-400s are to be withdrawn by the end of 2018. For the time being however, the type is a common sight at San Francisco. An unidentified example dominates a busy scene at the 28L/R holds as a JetBlue A320 and Delta B717 N935AT wait for the runway(s). For the sharp-eyed, I think the winglet of the aircraft of which part appears to the far left identifies it as an American B737-800. 200_2_P1100343

Delta MD-88 N919DE arriving at gate C3 operating DAL/DL2395 from LGA. It would return to LGA as DAL/DL1943. Through the window shots - in this case from the terminal rather than an aircraft - are not ideal but a lot of the time these days they are all you can get. This is one of several shots in my recent series which juxtaposes one or more cruise ships at Port Everglades with aircraft from the steady stream towards runway 28R at FLL. Here, a Delta B757 is seen with Oasis of the Seas which would be the last of six ships to depart when it sailed for Nassau. 200_P1000501

Bayfront Park, straddling the city line between Burlingame and Millbrae on San Francisco Bay, makes a lovely place to watch aircraft (and birds). With the distances involved, I had no aspirations for great photographs but just went for some fun shots on a sunny afternoon. These included some RW01R departures shooting the gaps in a steady stream of westerly arrivals. Here, Delta (ex-Northwest) B757-300 N594NW departs after a wait of about ten minutes for such a gap.
