1981 Ford Escort RS 1800 National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. A Mk II Escort, built after the introduction of the Mk III and driven by Ari Vatanen in the 1981 RAC Rally. I like the photograph very much except, of course, for the unavoidable intrusion of a wheel of the adjacent vehicle. 5300_DSC_1304R

I absolutely love the Mk I Ford Escort and that is only in part because I passed my test on one (second time). Many cars of the period look dated now but the Escort has the simplest and most beautiful of shapes. This well cared for example was in Fareham. 200_2_P1060288E
