Zany Zebras was a large scale public art event organised by Marwell Zoo and held in and around Southampton from 16 July to 25 September 2016. The 47 full size zebras from the event were auctioned on 18 October 2016 at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl and subsequently made their way to new homes. Zeeberry by Deven Bhurke was bought by Pickwell Farm, its sponsors, and subsequently displayed at their farm shop where, hopefully, it will not be subjected to the damage which caused it to be relocated to The Marlands during the Zany Zebras event. 200_2_P1140446

My work aims to celebrate the hard work and talent of the artists, schools, colleges and other bodies who created the zebras as well as raising awareness of the event. To achieve this I shall post full figure shots, portraits, some shots which are slightly zany in their own right and some pictures of the zebras in the city landscape. 'Queen of the Sky' by Deven Bhurke. Bus Art was a public event in London to mark the 2014 Year of the Bus. Sculptures based on the New Routemaster were decorated by well known and aspiring artists and displayed over a wide area. I was unable to see any at the the time of the event which had escaped my attention until it was nearly over but now three have arrived in Lee on Solent. 200_2_P1040683

Go! Rhinos is an exciting public art event in Southampton held 13 July - 22 September 2013. The trail requires a little effort to walk but I think it is worth it. I am posting a series of pictures which will show some portraits and some with the figures in the wider context of a very photogenic city. This is one of four rhinos included in the event but outside the city centre.
