Commercial Vehicles at Netley Marsh (10) - 27 July…

1937 AEC Matador MkII AMO160 at Netley Marsh Steam & Craft Show. In 2011, I concentrated on the parade of steam vehicles in the main arena. This year, the commercial vehicles were the focus of attention at the time of my arrival. P1180738C

King Alfred 595 in Gosport (2) - 4 August 2013

Having established that the Gosport Bus Rally was indeed under way, I decided that the Stokes Bay venue was not the idea place to be between night duties and that Gosport Bus Station would be a better place to see some of the associated vehicles. King Alfred 595, a Park Royal bodied AEC Renown 595LCG was one of the most attractive of these. In the background is one of First's seemingly indestructible Darts, 42128/S628KTP. Preserved buses are extensively photographed and rallies tend to attract similar exhibits but I think it is worthwhile to add to the library of such photographs so that, when some of these vehicles pass into history or adopt new guises, their existence and appearance at different times and in different places is recorded as thoroughly as possible. King Alfred 595, a Park Royal bodied AEC Renown 595LCG was one of the most attractive of these. The driver had kindly closed the doors for me between loads. I do not like photographs of buses with open doors unless it is an intentional part of the composition.
