Car no. 64720 of Class 508 unit 508210 now stands alone at Eastleigh. It is reported elsewhere on Flickr that this vehicle, unlike the rest of the unit, is not to be scrapped but removed from the site. P1180971

Eastleigh is a place I can reach easily at short notice and I am determined to record periodically the place and its visitors in the early 21st century. Equipment and colour schemes come and go and, one day, my photographs, amongst thousands of others, might be a valuable source of reference. This is one of the sad sights of the moment as the scrapping of several Class 508 emus continues. Cars 64654 (left) and 71488 are what remains of Class 508 unit 508203. This seems a terrible waste and the effect is perhaps magnified by what still appears a fresh, clean livery which I liked. P1180822
