Biblio-Bison (2) - 13 October 2016
31 Oct 2016 |
|
My followers will be aware that I have recorded several public art projects, most recently Southampton's Zany Zebras [qv].
In Indianapolis, I quite unexpectedly came across a piece from the statewide celebration of Indiana's bicentennial, the Bison-tennial Art Project organised by the Indiana Association of United Ways.

This is part of Biblio-Bison by Kyle Ragsdale at the Indianapolis Public Library.
Unfortunately, in a short visit to the city, I managed to photograph only one bison.

USS Indianapolis National Memorial (2) - 13 Octobe…
31 Oct 2016 |
|
The story of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) late in WWII on 30 July 1945 is sad and convoluted.
The ship and those lost with it are commemorated by the USS indianapolis National Memorial on Canal Walk in the city for which she was named.
Rather than write here at great length, I recommend that you read the history as it is well worth the few minutes it will take.
