Braemar at St. John's - 16 March 2019

This is my favourite shot from my latest visit to Antigua. SOOC except for a crop, the light was fading fast as Viking Sea sailed leaving Fred Olsen Braemar at St. John's, from where she would sail to Tortola and, ultimately, Southampton. 200_3_P1100473C

Braemar arriving at St. John's (4) - 16 March 2019

My cruise ship photography will be tedious to some but is aimed, as are many of my other pictures, at enthusiasts on a certain subject. Different angles can assist, for example, record keeping and modelling. So, my Braemar series from Antigua continues with three more arrival shots in which the ship is manoeuvring to approach the quay stern first. Followers will recall that Norwegian Gem [qv] performed a similar manoeuvre at Castries although that was executed outside what one might regard as the harbour entrance. Braemar turned closer to the piers and took quite some time before coming alongside. 200_3_P1100463C

The intense midday light lends to this picture an almost HDR effect but I have not altered the contrast or brightness. 200_3_P1100465C

Braemar arriving at St. John's (2) - 16 March 2019

Fred Olsen Braemar was the fourth cruise ship to arrive St. John's on this day and the second to have been with Viking Sea at Bridgetown two days earlier. Arriving only at lunchtime, Braemar would depart for Tortola on a continuing voyage to Southampton to commence her European itineraries. 200_3_P1100457

Braemar at Bridgetown - 14 March 2019

The morning light makes the best of Fred Olsen Braemar's looks whilst alongside at Bridgetown, Barbados. She had three island calls to make before crossing the Atlantic to Southampton. The first would be St. John's, Antigua on 16 March. 200_3_P1100273CE

Breakfast Time in Bridgetown (2) - 14 March 2019

Viking Sea was the fourth of four ships to arrive at a hot Bridgetown on this March Thursday. Two of the three already moored were Marella Celebration and the Fred Olsen Braemar. Marella Celebration would be starting one of a series of round trips from the Barbados port having arrived from St. Vincent. The first port would be St. John's, Antigua after a day at sea. Braemar too was starting a new itinerary having arrived from Roseau, Dominica and would also head for Antigua, the first of just three island calls before heading to the Azores and Spain en route to Southampton. 200_3_P1100261CE
