We Fought - 20 June 2014

This is a more disciplined treatment of an earlier shot in my photos. The detail in Philip Jackson's bronze figures at the Bomber Command Memorial, Green Park conveys much about the men who fought for us. I hope this photograph of Jackson's work achieves the same.

The Royal Air Force Bomber Command Memorial, Green Park, London.
The memorial in Portland Stone, designed by Liam O'Connor houses a bronze sculpture of seven airmen by Philip Jackson. I very much like the detail of Jackson's figures which captures both the dedication and weariness of the men who faced a potentially overwhelming task and paid a high price for their role in victory.
