BA at Bournemouth (13) - 20 May 2020

22 May 2020 49
As of 19 May 2020, well into the coronavirus crisis, there were reported to be 40 British Airways aircraft stored at Bournemouth comprising 13 A319s, 16 A320s, 6 A321s and 5 B747-400s. To see them was a sobering and emotional sight. All 5 747s are featured in this series. This view is one of my rare hybrid shots, featuring the subject requirements of more than one album or group. In Flight Catering - 20 May 2020

This Citroën Berlingo of Bournemouth Airport's In Flight Catering was parked near the southern perimeter fence and the long line of stored BA aircraft which were there during the coronavirus pandemic. I thought it improbable that it would have any catering to do and wondered if the van was being used by security. TZ70_P1020237E

The Changing Face of Hurn (2) - 18 November 2014

22 Nov 2014 129
The landscape of Bournemouth Airport has changed a lot over the years with the construction in the last few years of new departures and arrivals buildings. The buildings in this view, however, have a longer history with the CAA and, later, NATS. The site housed the College of Air Traffic Control and the Air Traffic Management Development Centre (ATMDC), formerly ATCEU (Air Traffic Control Evaluation Unit). The College buildings are in the centre of the picture with the buildings to the left, later additions. The rather austere structure to the right housed the ATMDC. After NATS moved in 2011, it was eventually announced that the buildings would be developed to accommodate the move from central Bournemouth of Parkfield School. For the time being, the site remains surrounded by light fencing but the school is due to open in September 2015. The various banners on the fencing proclaim the plans for the school and outline the facilities it provides. It is worth noting that the road junction here has been significantly developed since the 1980s with widening and the introduction of light controls. 200_2_P1010950C
