Do we ever tire of pictures of swans? They are beautiful and elegant (as well as, potentially, rather temperamental) and each new sighting lifts the heart. This Mute Swan had just set out from the Clayhall Road side of Stoke Lake, Gosport. Just to ward off any teasing about my title, the Mute Swan is not actually silent but lacks some of the sounds of other swans. 200_2_P1040884

Unaware of the significance of the presence at the nearby berth 101 of the Höegh Osaka [qv], this juvenile Mute Swan was in a family group of four, the adults and two juveniles, on the River Test. 200_2_P1020633C

Goodness knows how many pictures of swans there are online but here is another. Inevitably, both light and water tend to contribute to such images and, in this case, I think they do add to my picture of a swan on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Aldermaston and apparently finding one foot enough for propulsion. 200_P1040399C
