Royal Navy Merlin ZH837 on the deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth as she left Portsmouth. Of six Merlins visible during the departure only this had its rotors deployed. I am, ultimately, disappointed with this shot because of the pole or mast impinging on the background. I decided not to remove it. 5300_DSC_2536CE

As the aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth eased away from the quay at HMNB Portsmouth, six Merlins were above deck. The five here make a pleasing image; the sixth (ZH837) was ready for flight on the starboard side. 5300_DSC_2497XC

As the Fred Olsen cruise ship Boudicca left Portsmouth for Normandy with her accompanying vessels, Royal Navy Agusta-Westland Merlin Mk2 ZH853 clattered busily up and down the length of Portsmouth Harbour. 5300_DSC_0258CE

On Monday 21 March 2016, a formation of five Sea King HC4 helicopters of the Royal Navy flew a long circuit of the south and south west of England to mark the withdrawal of the type from service at the end of the month. The formation flew from and to Yeovilton and was accompanied by this Merlin which followed a flypast across Lee on Solent airfield. 200_2_P1090296C
