Irving, TX - 15 February 2020

19 Feb 2020 51
In this record shot of part of Irving, TX immediately north of DFW, the view SE along the John W Carpenter Freeway features the Dallas skyline in the distance. The tall building to the left is a Westin hotel and to the right of that is a Sheraton. Nearer the camera in an unexpectedly lonely looking location is the HQ of the American College of Emergency Physicians. This is a view from floor 12 of the Marriott DFW (North). 200_3_P1120339E

Irving, Texas - 10 February 2020

12 Feb 2020 69
This very nice relief model with accompanying photographs, marks the 2003 centenary of Irving Texas. It can be found at the head of Main Street close to the railway station. It is of note that, in many places I have visited, an attractive work like this would have been vandalised. TZ70_P1010817C

Simmons Bank, Fort Worth, TX - 10 February 2020

Simmons Bank, 2200 W 7th Street, Fort Worth, TX. My travels, although now diminishing with age, allow me to bring to the site some banks which are unlikely to be well known outside their local areas or countries. TZ70_P1010830CE

Where Am I Now? (US4) - 15 November 2019

30 Nov 2019 80
It began as a bit of fun in New Zealand in 2015 as I used my camera to note the locations of more mainstream pictures. Then it became clear that some of these shots of street signs are quite interesting record shots in their own right. So, 4½ years later, in Dallas...... 200_3_P1110710

John Neely Bryan Cabin (2) - 14 November 2019

19 Nov 2019 59
Seemingly incongruous in the centre of Dallas, a log cabin is attributed to the city's founder John Neely Bryan. The cabin has been in several locations before this. The accompanying plaque is very interesting. Log Cabin

The Book Depository - 14 November 2019

19 Nov 2019 67
As a matter of fact I do remember where I was when news was broadcast of the assassination of President Kennedy. On a previous, brief, visit to Dallas I saw The Book Depository. On this occasion, I visited the Sixth Floor Museum which is very good. Posting only three days away from the 56th anniversary of that fateful day reminds me of history and just how long my life has been. 200_3_P1110594R
