Carrion Crow - 2 November 2018

02 Nov 2018 86
Based on the fact that similar birds I photographed at this location, No. 2 Battery, Gosport, were identified as carrion crows, I take this to be one also. The shot pushed my bridge camera rather hard. 200_3_P1080509C2

Crow Running Maintenance (2) - 14 September 2017

There was plenty flying on my September visit to Cotswold Airport but, for a few minutes, it did not include this beautiful but slightly bedraggled crow at the northern perimeter. Its feathers were shining in the deceptive sunshine which appeared after the passage across the airfield of very heavy showers which seemed to have stopped the bird for a quick A-check. Crow_2

Carrion Crow (5) - 13 January 2015

I am not in the habit of 'dumping' on ipernity but sometimes you just want to use all the pictures in a series. The sun came through for a couple of hours on a stormy Tuesday morning and the carrion crows at Browndown, Gosport enjoyed it as much as the humans. 200_2_P1020432

Masada (26) - 20 May 2014

07 Jun 2014 148
Masada is an ancient fortification in the Southern District of Israel situated on top of an isolated rock plateau on the eastern edge of the Judaean Desert, overlooking the Dead Sea. Herod the Great built palaces for himself on the mountain and fortified Masada between 37 and 31 BCE. According to Josephus, the Siege of Masada by troops of the Roman Empire towards the end of the First Jewish–Roman War ended in the mass suicide of the 960 Sicarri rebels and their families hiding there. Masada is deservedly one of Israel's most popular tourist attractions. I found it absolutely fascinating, enjoying both the remarkably extensive remains and the stunning views of Israel, across the Dead Sea and into Jordan. Crows are quite prominent on the site along with Tristram's Starling (as depicted earlier in my photostream). 200_P1030130
