Depuis le Moyen-âge, un passeur fait la navette entre la Ville-close et le quartier de Lanriec situé sur l'autre rive du chenal. Les plus anciens témoignages écrits relatant son activité datent de 1678 lorsque l'abbaye de Landevennec était propriétaire du droit de passage. Ce service, privé pendant plusieurs siècles, devient régie municipale en 1976, placé sous la responsabilité du port de plaisance, Le bac du passage est donc ce petit bateau qui vous fait traverser l’entrée du port, du Passage Lanriec (place Duquesne) à la ville close, vous évitant ainsi le tour par le pont du Moros ou par la cale sèche si vous passez par le port de pêche (réservé normalement aux usagers du port). Très intéressant donc pour se rendre rapidement en ville et très amusant pour les visiteurs de Concarneau. Cette traversée de 200 mètres environs est la “PLUS PETITE CROISIÈRE DU MONDE” avec un trajet qui ne dure que 5 min. Le bac peut transporter 30 passagers et il fonctionne 10 heures par jour. _______________________________________________ The Bac du Passage might be one of the cutest ferries in the world. The information above records that the short crossing of the channel between Ville Close and Lanriec dates back for many hundreds of years with its origins in smuggling. The ferry service was privately run for several centuries and came under municipal control in 1976. The journey of around 200m and barely 5 minutes avoids a much longer trip via the Moros bridge or through the port. A dramatic sky - which did not in fact presage poor weather - enhanced the sunrise over Brittany in the general direction of Pont-Aven from the sea at Concarneau. A little creativity with editing suggests the apocalyptic future which might face us in uncertain times. TZ30_P1020368BA

The interior of Ville Close, the mediaeval town of Concarneau, is what passes today for 'tourist cute' and thus, in my eyes, is spoiled by shops selling what is at least a cut above your average tat. The exterior is still appealing and, with care, can be photographed without any impinging tourists.
