Leadenhall Sunrise - 25 August 2019

31 Aug 2019 53
It is difficult these days to keep a track of the London skyline or to find a portion of it unpunctuated by the cranes which mark further construction. I have made clear my views on the architectural development of the capital in earlier notes. In this picture from an early Sunday morning walk, the centrepiece is the distinctive Leadenhall Building at 122 Leadenhall Street. TZ70_P1000917E

Wilderness Heartbeat (Cityscape version) - 26 July…

27 Jul 2019 65
This banner/sculpture, 'I Need This Wilderness' by Adam Bridgland stands in a beautiful bed of plants outside the Business Design Centre in Islington. A few steps to one side or the other allow one to create different pictures featuring the work. In this, I have chosen to juxtapose the soulful message of the artist with part of London's wounded skyline. TZ70_P1000286C

Where Man Meets God (6) - 5 March 2015

20 Mar 2015 103
I am not convinced of the existence of a supreme being but I am certain of the insignificance and transience of man in the face of nature. My title for this occasional series is a convenience to link pictures of places where what man has made meets what he has not. Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne is busy with residents and tourists but lends to the city a tranquility which seems to reduce the impact of a skyline to match those of many cities in the world. Melbourne, although exciting, is an aggressively busy city and, for a while, in these gardens, I felt mercifully detached. 200_2_P1040130

A Coastline in the Sky - 5 September 2013

The rooftop of the AC Hotel, Nice is a place for pleasing if not remarkable views. Looking north west on this evening, I thought the distant cloud looked like a coastline map. X20_DSCF2034
