Popham Airfield (Rabbits) - 1 October 2020

01 Oct 2020 1 1 123
This picture launches a short series from Popham taken before what was expected to be an hiatus of several days courtesy of storm Alex. There are a number of humorous signs around this popular airfield. One actually reads 'Mines'. I hoped that was humorous but did not go down the path - you never know. For the aviator, the enthusiast or photographer, the airfield is welcoming and accessible. Landings on 26 in a brisk wind are entertainment in their own right. The cafe, which changed hands on 1 October 2020, is excellent. Downsides for the photographer are that a lot of shots are into or across the sun and the vehicles on the adjacent A303 can make for very distracting backgrounds. 200_4_P1000781E

Yes, I am a bit short of ideas (and opportunities) at the moment but then so would you be if your movements had been restricted for several weeks. Oh, hold on, they have! This idea and caption came about from a fragment of domestic conversation. Photograph and staging by John Oram Photoshop (selective colouring) by Gregory Halse 200_3_P1120547R_PS
