Having so recently marked various 70th anniversaries of events of WWII, it is remarkable to see this memorial in Warsash which commemorates the 40th anniversary of D-Day. It was unveiled by the Countess Mountbatten on 5 June 1984. 200_2_P1080269

The clock tower in Warsash was built c1900 by the Warsash House Estate to house a 6000 gallon water tank which was later removed. The tower is now a private residence. 200_2_P1080262

This kind of architectural feature fascinates me. I shall be further researching this example in Clock Tower Yard, Warsash. 200_2_P1080273
