Rail Replacement Services from Havant (4) - 3 Dece…

|
Sunday 3 December 2017 saw an extensive programme of rail replacement services, involving several operators, run from Havant station as trains did not run between Southampton and Havant or Havant and Barnham.
Shortly after I photographed Xelabus Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL 530/LX53AZU by itself, it was joined by a representative of local rival Wheelers in the form of their East Lancs Olympus bodied Scania N230UD 9423RU, the pair making a colourful sight together on a dull day. They were waiting in Market Parade outside Havant Park.

Wheelers is another Hampshire fleet which moves its premium plates quite a lot. YIL5883 has been on a Berkhof bodied Dennis Javelin and, as long ago as 9 January 2011, on an LDV minibus.
The registration was seen on an MCV Evolution bodied MAN 14.220 in Palmerston Road, Southampton as it passed between Hoglands and Houndwell parks.

Wheelers Duo at Eastleigh (3) - 12 May 2016
13 May 2016 |
|
Following my observation of a single vehicle on 9 May 2016, there were three Wheelers buses at Eastleigh Works on today's visit. With this seeming to continue a pattern of use observed by davidhann34016 on 3 April 2016 and by myself on 4 April, one might surmise that the company uses Eastleigh for overflow as its premises can become quite crowded.
Two of the three were Plaxton Primo 2 CX60AEL and Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart SIL9041.
It is a bit untraditional to photograph buses from behind but I want a record of comings and goings and the pictures show that the 'back end of a bus' does not necessarily mean 'ugly'.

Wheelers MCV bodied MAN NIL7251 at Eastleigh Works.
In the sometimes confusing world of buses and coaches, this vehicle has had at least two previous operators and the registration has been previously used by Wheelers on a Plaxton bodied Dennis Dart.

On 3 April 2016 there were, reportedly, seven vehicles from the Wheelers Connect fleet in the yard of Eastleigh Works. The site has been used frequently for various bus comings and goings. Whatever the reason for their presence, there was only one, MCV bodied MAN 12.220 AE56MDF, remaining when I arrived late in the morning of the next day and that left soon after my arrival as shown here.

Wheelers Travel (North Baddesley) Irizar bodied Scania BL07WTL on a long layover in Twyford Drive, Lee on Solent. Earlier photographs of this vehicle show it in a blue livery. I don't think this all-white scheme is an improvement but perhaps it is easier to maintain.
