There was a distinct theme of red today amongst visitors to the ever popular Solent Airport. The tower apron was in use more than usual perhaps because it was a bit wet yesterday. Two of the four visitors I photographed were Socata TB20 Trinidad G-TIBS and Grumman American AA-5 Traveller G-BCEE. The AA-5 had been moved to the position shown here after the intermediate departure from the apron of G-IIDI [qv] which returned later. 5300_DSC_2143CE

With the viewing area at Solent Airport still closed, it was back to the fence for more additions to the A1 series. Approaching the holding point is Socata TB20 Trinidad G-TBXX. TZ70_P1020341CE

Socata TB20 Trinidad G-OALD at Solent Airport. A few minutes after this picture was taken, this aircraft experienced a minor mishap when the nosewheel got partially stuck in a soft part of the grass area. After some discussion and with the load reduced to just the pilot, it was safely moved under power and parked on the tower apron. 5300_DSC_1546CE

Not having access to the apron(s) at Lee on Solent, I decided to take unconventional shots of Socata TB-20 Trinidad N113AC undergoing surgery at Bournemouth Avionics Limited. Whilst I admire the beautiful results obtained by many Flickr contributors with DSLRs, I always carry a capable compact with a small barrel which is not defeated by many types of fence as I do not like to miss out altogether.
