By early August 2021, the cruise industry was just about off its knees but was walking a little unsteadily as UK cruises and coastal deployments occupied some ships and most firms remained cautious about a restart of international cruises recently sanctioned by the government. The evening sun was a little restrained as the Cunard Queen Elizabeth passed Tradewind Voyages Golden Horizon upon which the hopeful light perhaps signalled a new golden age of cruising. 200_4_P1020522CE

As a late May day faded into dusk and then darkness, a couple on the Lee on Solent beach contemplated a view soon to be consigned to history. Demolition at the Fawley power station site has already begun and the familiar chimney will, in due course, disappear. 5300_DSC_1679E
