By early August 2021, the cruise industry was just about off its knees but was walking a little unsteadily as UK cruises and coastal deployments occupied some ships and most firms remained cautious about a restart of international cruises recently sanctioned by the government. The evening sun was a little restrained as the Cunard Queen Elizabeth passed Tradewind Voyages Golden Horizon upon which the hopeful light perhaps signalled a new golden age of cruising. 200_4_P1020522CE

I follow the Southampton cruise ship schedule quite closely but not, it would appear, closely enough.The presence of Oceania Marina came as a surprise to me when I opened the page today and, having been in it only recently, I wondered if it was a late addition. I was able to capture the ship passing Cowes underway to Amsterdam at the start of a Scandinavian cruise. Although the evening brightened later, it was rather dull when I reached the Lee shore and I have used some clumsy editing to get this effect. I would like to thank my remarkable TZ30 for getting the shot at all. Oceania is an infrequent visitor to Southampton but sister ship Nautica is due in on 20 June 2013. TZ30_P1000752EPM
