Buxton Station (Mono) - 12 July 2015

My evening visit to Buxton included a peek into its railway past. This b&w version is one of my informal 'imagined past' shots and captures the slowly setting sun illuminated the glazing of this former face of the LNWR station. In the Buxton of the 1960s and earlier, the LNWR station, which survives, stood next to an LMS example of identical design as ordained by the local authorities at the time of construction.

My evening visit to Buxton included a peek into its railway past. I hope this shot will be a favourite with many although it conveys only inadequately how beautifully the slowly setting sun illuminated the glazing of this former face of the LNWR station. In the Buxton of the 1960s and earlier, the LNWR station, which survives, stood next to an LMS example of identical design as ordained by the local authorities at the time of construction.

In Swansea, along Oystermouth Road, there are interesting remains of the high level LNWR line in the form of an embankment which now forms the northern boundary of the Maritime Quarter development which has largely obliterated the once extensive South Dock.
