The Warship Class was, on balance, my favourite of the three main diesel-hydraulic types. Mercifully examples of all three are preserved and all can be seen on the West Somerset Railway. D832 'Onslaught', seen here at Williton, is a shining example of the standard of preservation on the railway. 200_2_P1100932

For someone who was not brought up with steam by virtue of geography rather than my date of birth, diesel preservation is of great interest. The standard of preservation on the West Somerset Railway is very high and is exemplified here, at Williton, by Class 33 D6575, Class 47 D1661 'North Star', Western Class D1010 'Western Fusilier' and (right) Class 14 D9526. 200_2_P1100930

An Echo of the S&DJR - 6 June 2016

I could not resist a B&W treatment of my earlier image of immaculate S&DJR 7F Class 2-8-0 53808 (88) at Williton with the 1312 to Bishops Lydeard perhaps recalling its heyday elsewhere in the county. 200_2_P1100912M
