What Have I Become? - 16 August 2020

Eastleigh was densely packed on my Sunday visit, affording the observer a considerable variety if not many decent photographic opportunities. To get this shot of a former Class 319 (believed to be 319373) required some physicality with a long lens with only limited angles available. It did appear to me (I may be mistaken) that only the Driving Trailers were present. At the time of posting, it is unclear whether this unnumbered Orion (Rail Operations Group) unit is to remain a 319 or is a future Class 769 unit. 200_3_P1130334SC_E

Two EMUs at Eastleigh - 30 June 2020

Underlining as well as anything my recent comments about variety at Eastleigh, this shot shows Class 319 emu 319373 and an unidentified Class 442 unit. It is quite fascinating to see how things move (or are moved) around between visits even when those visits are quite close together. There was all sorts of stock outside today. It was raining in a way quite inappropriate to the date. I shot through it. 200_3_P1120996E

319028 at Bedford - 31 July 1988

Although marginally cropped, I think this picture of Selhurst allocated Class 319 emu 319028 at Bedford deserves its place in the lockdown scanning stream. Although the Network SouthEast livery is prominent, this was in the earliest days of the Thameslink network. The franchise name, following the privatisation of British Rail, was used from 1997. 881223_310788
