Provincial Society Ale & Ride (18) - 1 January 202…

04 Jan 2020 182
On New Years Day 2020, The Provincial Society operated an Ale & Ride event from Gosport and Fareham Bus Stations using a number of preserved vehicles. After my Gosport shoot [qv], I had taken a break in Havant and then made my way to Fareham where I saw four participants which included First Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart 42728/T728REU and the unique Wadham Stringer bodied ACE Cougar H523CTR, formerly People's Provincial no. 3, which had arrived from Gosport. As had been the case at Gosport, First were running no service so there plenty of room for the Ale & Ride buses and a couple of National Express vehicles. Plymouth Citybus 202 at Marsh Mills - 29 December…

Withdrawn Plymouth Citybus Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart 202/X202CDV at Marsh Mills, Plym Valley Railway. I had assumed, quite wrongly, that the face was applied by the railway but, in fact, the bus ran in service with those markings. In a fuller version of the scheme, it was, at one time, 'Dennis Dart', a character from a series of educational childrens books. TZ70_P1010618CE

Changes at Clovelly Road (7) - 26 August 2018

I was sad to learn that the quirky and varied fleet of Southbourne based Emsworth & District was to cease operating which it finally did on 31 July 2018. By Sunday 26 August 2018, many vehicles had been disposed of but several were still to be seen at the rather spread out site at Clovelly Road. Interestingly, this Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLF Y461JAE, now devoid of titles, carries legal lettering (marked as a note) for the new entity Portsmouth City Coaches Ltd. which will trade as Emsworth Buses. 200_3_P1070497CE
