Classic Buses in Fareham (10) - 1 November 2020

02 Nov 2020 77
As the country prepared for a second national lockdown and I felt this might be my last opportunity for a while for meaningful photography, I had the most pleasant of surprises at Fareham station. I had gone there anticipating rail replacement services and these were indeed running (and are illustrated in my photostream) but of even greater interest was a gathering of classic buses in the car park. There were eventually six before all departed. This was, apparently, not an organised event as such but a last trip by their respective owners before storing the vehicles for the winter. ECW bodied Bristol VR NUD105L, Oxford South Midland/National Bus Company 105 flanked by ECW bodied Bristol RE MH1257/DAE511K and former Southdown Plaxton Elite bodied Leyland Leopard 1829/UUF329J. 200_4_P1000955C

To the right is the very striking Plaxton Elite bodied Leyland Leopard UUF329J is former Southdown 1829 and, at one time, appeared in the far less inspiring National livery. To the left is ECW bodied Bristol RE MH1257/DAE511K in Bristol colours. 200_4_P1000946CE

A Leopard Can Change Its Spots - 22 June 2016

25 Jun 2016 161
This is the second picture in a short series of four photographs for the bus enthusiast featuring three slightly unusual buses in East Kent. The long history of Marshall bodied Leyland Leopard 273AUF started with Southdown. Now at Dover Transport Museum, awaiting restoration, markings of both Rules (of Boxford) and East Kent can be seen on the slightly distressed bodywork. 200_2_P1110202C
