Starkitecture - 3 June 2022

In a city with more than its fair share of grim residential and commercial architecture, this Bristol Chinese takeaway with some sort of accommodation above it struck me as perfect for a little nod to fellow photographer on another site. Don't Leave Me This Way (Alternative Version) - 29…

In Scunthorpe, the community has lost a lot and still people smile. In the town's Laneham Street, someone had, perhaps, lost this bear or maybe it had the same role as one of those painted stones, to bring cheer momentarily into someone's day. War and Peace - 10 October 2018

The Standing Tommies are appearing across Great Britain as part of a charity initiative by Remembered called 'There But Not There'. Made from varying materials they are simple but moving. An example is in a doorway at, appropriately, Gosport War Memorial Hospital which built as a memorial to members of the Portsmouth Division of the Royal Marine Light Infantry based at Forton Barracks who had died in the First World War. After considerable thought, I liked the lighting and, as I have done on a few previous occasions, I have sought to turn one piece of art into another. The light and shadow are part of the message. Midsummer Murdered (3) - 22 June 2013

22 Jun 2013 1 165
Hope Springs Eternal This is really not what you want or expect of midsummer. The small hours of 22 June heralded by sound the inevitable sights of the morning. A solstice come and gone; a 'supermoon' obscured (although my Mum saw it); a scene perhaps better captured on video but, as I am no master of that, I faced the challenge of still photography in which you can not hear or see the effects of the wind. I wanted to go further than I have in previous similar shots and called upon the resources of my new X20 and its ability to shoot partial colour which I can not currently do in pp. I am absolutely thrilled with this shot SOOC in which my exact intent has been fulfilled by a wonderful camera. In this image, an optimistically red car peers from behind a suburban garage to defy the unseasonal elements and anticipate a joyous excursion later. X20_DSCF1293

Archie - 22 June 2013

Archie is one of several bears who live in my house. He was born in 2005 and is a Kent Air (Ambulance) Bear. I wanted this shot to be different and have used the wonderful partial colour function of my X20 to make Archie look very striking. X20_DSCF1291
