On New Years Day 2020, The Provincial Society operated an Ale & Ride event from Gosport and Fareham Bus Stations using a number of preserved vehicles. After my Gosport shoot [qv], I had taken a break in Havant and then made my way to Fareham where I saw four participants which included the very well known Southampton City Transport Leyland Atlantean 133/TTR167H. As had been the case at Gosport, First were running no service so there plenty of room for the Ale & Ride buses and a couple of National Express vehicles one of which, Lucketts operated Caetano Levante bodied Scania K410 EB6 X560656/BK67LOF, is seen setting off from the bus station. 5300_DSC_1652CE

This uncharacteristically busy picture was the one I liked most from a hastily captured series at Fareham station. Well known preserved Southampton City Transport Leyland Atlantean 133/TTR167H was on a shuttle service to the Model Railway Exhibition at Fareham Leisure Centre on the second of the two days 5 & 6 October 2019. The first day's service was operated by Dennis Dart N324ECR. 5300_DSC_1493CE

Herbert Walker Avenue in Southampton is a good place to see buses and coaches and today saw the well known and much photographed former Southampton City Transport Leyland Atlantean 133/TTR167H resting there in bright autumn sunshine. 200_3_P1080170CE

I was on a private visit to Bursledon Brickworks the day before the 2018 Bricks, Beer & Buses Festival. I am immensely grateful for the hospitality received from David, Mike and Tom, volunteers with the Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust. Southampton Guy Arab III 64/FTR511 was driven out of the line up shown earlier in my series and I was treated to a short ride within the brickworks as Tom Lingwood repositioned the bus for the activities of the following day. As I waited for departure,this was the view of Leyland Atlantean YRV256V. Its stickers for fictitious operator Wyvern were applied for an episode of Casualty. 200_3_P1050588E

When I saw a wonderful line up of five buses which live on, I was in bus heaven. This is a closer look at two of the five which are a recent acquisition by the Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust, former First 46325, a Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart N325ECR and a former Southampton Leyland Atlantean 167/EOW400L. 200_3_P1050575CE

During my visit, the upper deck cover was removed with great care so that rain water ended up outside the vehicle and I was treated to a short ride within the brickworks as the bus was repositioned for the activities of the following day. The very rare Southampton Seddon Pennine RU 15/BCR379K. This is believed to be one of only two of the type in preservation. Ex Nottingham City Transport Roe bodied Leyland Atlantean NNN471W is quite well documented on the internet and can now be found in a layby on the A49 north of Ashton in Herefordshire. A Facebook page records this in use as a café as recently as May 2017 but it seemed very much out of use today. I chose this angle to add to my short series because of the remarkable glazing at the back which would not look out of place on a flat. I don't think I have ever seen anything like that. 200_3_P1030109R

During my excursion to photograph Zany Zebras [qv], I was very pleased to come across former Southampton City Transport Leyland Atlantean 133/TTR167H in Latimer Street, Southampton. The vehicle was operating short tours from this stand into Eastern Docks. These tours were part of the Celebrating Queens Park event which, in turn, was part of the national Love Parks Week. 200_2_P1110647

The 2015 Stokes Bay Bus Rally provided me with an opportunity to catch up with a vehicle which has eluded me in service - in terms of decent photographic opportunities. First East Lancs Lolyne bodied Dennis Trident 32707/W707PHT carries an overall scheme for Fareham College/CEMAST for which it operates shuttle services with 32708.
