Phillack Church Hall - 16 February 2019

Followers of my photostream will know that I punctuate the regular subjects with pictures of buildings I really like. There is no obvious definition of those but they usually bring to the present day an echo of the past not automatically conveyed by all such buildings. Phillack Church Hall (1913) is curious in that it is quite distinctly in Hayle, 11 Copper Terrace to be precise. Phillack is a little way to the north and that, unsurprisingly, is where its parish church (St Felicitas and St Piala) can be found. The saints' names too are worthy of note as Felicitas is, according to one of the limited sources available online, derived not from Felicity (of Rome) but the Cornish Saint Felec (or Felix). One source also refers to Piala as a saint martyred in Cornwall. 200_3_P1090732CE

Harvey the Holiday Coach (1) - 16 February 2019

On a dull day in Cornwall which became persistently drizzly, my explorations, partially planned, partially speculative, were brightened by the discovery of Harvey the Holiday Coach at Hayle station. The site is operated by Railholiday which also has four coaches at St Germans in SE Cornwall. There appeared to be no occupants at this particularly low season but the place had an aura of happiness. 200_3_P1090735
