My night shots are always clumsy and my night reportage has been hitherto non-existent but tonight the two came together in Cheltenham. A large part of a tree had fallen on to Promenade near Imperial Lane and modest traffic control was put in place. The Gloucestershire Police Astra left soon after the arrival of the clean-up vehicles and when I returned to the scene later in the evening the badly damaged tree had been severely polled and traffic returned to normal. Here is what I hope will be a little treat for Blue Lights and Emergency Vehicle enthusiasts. This Police Vauxhall Astra KP61JFX did not visibly carry any individual force markings. It was at the Derby Workshop of Derbyshire County Transport (photographed from outside) and I speculate that it was present to have its vinyls removed to go into municipal service. Perhaps when British Rail was extant they had as many vehicles as today's TOCs but caught my eye less. There are numerous vehicles in the service of South West Trains and I would dare to suggest that the colour scheme they carry is more attractive overall than that on their trains. This Vauxhall Astra estate MK12ZZC was in the Eastleigh station car park and I have chosen to finish today's series with its picture as something a bit unexpected. P1180850C
