St Paul's Cathedral - 29 March 2017

The late 17th century St Paul's Cathedral retains its dignity and imposing presence as London changes around it. The construction of the Faraday Building, which opened as long ago as 1902, led to legislation protecting views of St Paul's. The Faraday Building was the GPO's first telephone exchange in London. 200_2_P1150506

The skyline of London has been badly damaged by a failure of architectural and planning coherence but, somehow, St Paul's Cathedral still manages to draw the eye from the few viewpoints unmarred by newer buildings and the cranes assisting the construction of the newest. The Millennium Bridge is a tolerable addition to the riverscape and, since its (literally) shaky start, has become very popular. 200_2_P1090626

I try to see things differently in even the worst of circumstances. This image is about progress across the centuries. 200_2_P1090621
