This beautifully drawn poster was on the lower deck of former Stagecoach Volvo Olympian 16752/R752DRJ during its public viewing shortly before it was moved to St Agatha's Church, Portsmouth where it joined the Robert Dolling Project after being donated by The Bus Project, Portsmouth. A cheery interior will greet those able to be temporarily sheltered in the converted bus.

Thought For The Day - 27 September 2013

Homelessness is an important and emotive subject. There are many reasons for being homeless. A few people choose the lifestyle but many more are driven to this desperate state by circumstances we can never know even though we might judge through a glance or an action. I find that my conscience twinges a little more sharply with the approach of winter. Imagine if you will, as deep, penetrating cold falls across your town, knowing that you have nowhere to go, nowhere to escape from the falling temperature. You can not become warm, wash or even be sure of eating. Your life must be lived in the public gaze and invisibly at the same time; no four walls exist for you anywhere. We might not be able to help in material ways nor, in some cases, is help welcomed but we can avoid judging and we can help with the social change which will eventually reduce if not eliminate homelessness.
Sleep well.
