An unusual visitor to Sunderland, the Spellbinder II is a dive vessel owned by Dive Spellbinder and is based at Tynemouth. An obvious feature is the hydraulic dive platform at the stern of the ship, with a pair of divers just about to use it. It also features a jet drive propulsion meaning there are no propellers that could pose a hazard to divers and others. Information from: www.divespellbinder.com/about

The twin hull Oceanic passing Roker lighthouse. Based in Eyemouth in SE Scotland, it can be chartered for fishing or diving trips. Arriving from Blyth, the Oceanic only spent a short while in Sunderland, sailing up to the Fish Quay before departing back north again. Possibly a reconnaissance trip for further work this summer?
